Why can't you message people that are spectating?
Sometimes I want to play a game with a friend but they are spectating. There is no way to message them and you can only wait for them to stop spectating.

I seem to have no problem messaging people who are playing or spectating. Though I do notice that when I'm spectating I seem to pay less attention to chat, and so don't see messages that are sent to me.
