Would you punish? A question of morals I suppose
Let's say you're in a ranked game. Everything is going well, but you notice your Ziggs already seems to have a temper on him, jumping everyone's case on every little thing. A gank that burns a flash but doesn't result in a kill still isn't good enough for him. He rages on your jungler. Your top lane gave up first blood, he's raging on your top laner. Your bot lane is losing, he's raging on your bot lane. Now you're a support main, so you're a pretty chill guy. You avoid toxicity as much as possible. You don't want to argue with this guy, you don't want things to get any worse, but you're pretty much forced to play with this guy. Or are you? Let's say that about 20 minutes in, the game is looking bleak. You're almost positive this is going to be a loss. Not because of the scores, but because of the attitude of the team. You're playing Thresh, and this Ziggs sees you miss a hook. He flips it, goes off on his rant. And then, something happens. Suddenly, your whole team decides it's your fault that this game is going south. Somehow, your top laner gave up first blood because of you, the support, in bot lane. Somehow, you're the reason the ganks didn't work top and mid. Somehow you're the reason your ADC has half the cs of theirs. Even though this Ziggs was berating everyone on the team, they somehow all turn against you. Why this happens, I don't know. Maybe they just want the Ziggs to stop berating them, so they hop on board with the Ziggs to help him scapegoat someone. At in the end, it always comes down to the entire team jumping one person's case. Now sometimes, yeah if a person goes 0/7, they've really put a lot of weight on the team. But is this really the proper solution to it? What does berating that person accomplish? I'll tell you. They go afk. They leave. They get up, and walk away from the computer. Because they don't feel that they should have to put up with this kind of crap. It's against the rules to flame, and it's against the rules to afk. But the afkers get punished far more than the flamers. And yet, they're only going afk because of the flaming.
Would you punish a player for going afk in a game where every single one of his teammates is flaming him? Why or why not? What are your thoughts on this? Why should people be forced to play with rude and toxic players?
