One question, does that 18 mm refers to the whole line including the 6mm, or is it refering to that line itself?
If you made it out of paper the metal version would be literally the exact same thing. If anything the metal version would be more forgiving since you can flatten it more to "make" extra material if you need to and any holes could be filled by gradually building up the walls with weld. Are you using steel, aluminium, or some other type of metal? Are you welding it with rod or a mig?
I'm trying to convert your diagram into a model in Sketchup. Should be able to pull all of your angles from there.
