Got an idea for a new Champion lore, but it needs opinions

Was watching some SAO and seeing Suguha's relationship with her brother really gave me an idea for a Champion's lore. It's not polished or formatted, though, so I could use some feedback.

Rydia is a sylph, basically a half-fairy, half-human who didn't fit in with society in Ionia. During the Noxian-Ionian War, Rydia served as a medic and ended up in a relationship with a wounded soldier. By the end of the war, however, the soldier was to marry someone else who he fell in love with during the war. Rydia was in love with the soldier, but wanted him to be happy, so she didn't tell him how she felt about him.

Tragedy strikes, however, as the soldier ends up being murdered by his own wife, who was a Noxian spy. Rydia is left emotionally crushed, feeling guilty over her loved one's death, which she thinks she could have prevented if she had told him her feelings. Rydia learns of the circumstances behind the soldier's death, and now seeks the spy who killed him.

Sounds like a good basis, huh? It's by no means written for release, but this just gives you the gist of the idea.

I like the the set up, but seeing that you said she was a half-fairy half-human is she fueled by hate, revenge etc and if so does she go through a transformation that would correspond with her half-fairy side. Or does she use the fact that she is fairy-ish and choose the lighter side of going on with her mission.

How does being a half fairy/human add to the story? How does it define her character and her story? It seems that the story would be the same if she was full human.

By chance, did you get the name Rydia and the sylph concept from Final Fantasy 4? Regardless,] I think it's a bit bland and kinda random. For starters, there's been no mention of faeries in Ionia, the only faeries are related to Lulu and the Glade. I'd say remove the Ionia part of her and relate the Glade to her somehow.
