League Launcher reported by avast fix. 2/12/2016

So for some odd reason my avast reported my LOL client as a malware threat and hears how to get you back on the rift :)

  1. In your system tray (generally bottom right) find your "avast" icon
  2. Right click and select "Virus Chest"
  3. Locate your "LOLLauncher.exe" and Right click
  4. Select "Restore and Add to exclusions" which will prompt a popup
  5. Choose "Yes" to add your LOLLauncher.exe to global exclusions
  6. (Optional step may not be needed) If prompt to overwrite existing LOLLauncher Choose "Yes"
  7. close avast and Relaunch League as normal :)

Hope this helps anyone having this issue. See you back on the Rift :)

Edit: There working with a team to get it fixed for those not seeing this. Also so it dosent happen again :)

Thanks for catching this and setting up this guide, Mike, and thanks for reporting it Sona.

A few of us are working on making sure this won't happen again.

EDIT: Not 100% sure about the behavior of the issue, so redacted. I'll make sure to find someone who does understand the behavior better and can keep it from happening.

Edit: For those who still cant get leauge running a vast may of deleted your lollauncher if so here's a backup of one :)

I've been having issues where I can't run avast at the same time as LoL. I go to start the game nothing pops up till I shut off avast. I even put it on my safe programs list .__.

Mine never showed the LeagueofLegend.Exe Thanks Avast You're going in the re-install list. To be frank it never showed any of the league of legend files/.executable

I accidently deleted LolLauncher.exe from the virus chest. What do i do now? It still wont open and its too late now to restore and add to exclusions.

Anyone else able to verify? I am showing definition version 160212-1. Right-click the icon in the system tray and choose "About Avast" then look at the "Virus definitions version." If it's showing an older version, try updating manually: right-click the tray icon again and choose "Update -> Engine and virus definitions."

To really verify you will unfortunately need to remove your exemption, which may of course quarantine the Launcher again if it's not really fixed. item 3070

And if the virus chest doesn't contain the launcher? I've already rebooted and added exception, but it's still blocking it, so I assume Avast did something that exempting League didn't undo.

i'm not having this problem with avast, however i am running the free version of avast.

I'm posting this because it might help somebody else with the same problem:

After Avast falsy blocked LOL, it forced me to reboot and do a root scan. Afterwards, LOL would not startup. There was nothing related to LOL in my quarintine fault to unblock. I had to delete the directory [lol_launcher] in [League of Legends] -> [rads] -> [projects]. Only then LOL would startup again.

I had a similar issue but it wasn't avast causing it. I'm not sure what caused it actually I tried the RADS fixes and checked my virus chest. I ended up deleting my league of legends replay folder and then it worked.

i had this happen to me too, and i wish i had seen this yesterday. the way i fixed it was by deleting both avast and league and then reinstalling them.

i did all that now it is making me redownload the game or patches and still cant play the game now

Thank you for this because I just got hit with this error today and it was dumb that avast kept marking this as a threat even though it does nothing.

So i just got this issue and i've been trying for an hour to fix it. I've followed the steps above and the avast guide for unblocking a program and nothing is working at all. The files remain in the chest even though they're excluded.

where is virus chest? In my system tray, I went to click on the arrow that displays some icons. Avast was there and I right clicked it, but no "Virus Chest" option was found?
