I haven't seen a single person actually enjoying themselves playing in a really long time. Every game is just a group of frustrated people on ego trips. Even when our team is ahead, it's just a constant stream of pure negativity in the chat.

Is there anyone left who's in this for anything other than an ego boost?

My advice to you is to play to have fun, not to win. Mix it up, and treat each game as a learning experience:
