Question about pro behavior

How common is it for a pro player to name a smurf with their Team Tag and then their name? I'm asking because I just got done with a game and had a teammate claiming to be Rox Gorilla. Now, I don't follow the pro scene because I would much rather play the game than get jealous watching people who are a few million times better than I will ever be, so I don't know the common practice when making smurfs or interacting with the common player...the person had the name ROX Gorilla, and acted annoyed when I didn't respect his claimed rank and said that I didn't like titanic on trundle...I'm posting this because when I imagine a pro I imagine someone who doesn't flaunt their rank or play in normals on a smurf...I imagine someone who prefers to remain anonymous and focus on being a good role model for the community...
