One of my favorite champions, I just wish he wasn't so easy to bully out of lane. He can't do anything until level 9.

I have no trouble staying in lane even through playing against his counters. Can I fight and win vs. his counters? Not very often unless they take too much harass and don't play to their advantages, but staying at range and farming really isn't a hassle. Sure I might miss one or two CS every now and again while trying to be ultra cautious... my lane opponent having never, to my knowledge, been more than 15 CS ahead of me on the one rare occasion.. though typically no more than 10. But my point is, you shouldn't be having trouble staying in lane. 1. Don't stand in one spot, taking the brunt of skillshots/ranged abilities/ranged AAs; move around immediately after your AA or ability leaves the model 2. Farm with your Q whenever possible, it does more damage than your AA and allows you to miss less of them if you have trouble last hitting, especially under tower 3. if you're being bullied, harass with Q safely, instead of with E or AA, and instead of using Q to farm 4. Run into jg and Q non-range monsters for extra heal while you wait for the new wave 5. Ping for and be wary of jungle ganks to be take advantage of (but don't get mad if they don't come immediately or at all) 6. Build your E to 4 stacks just before you expect to need it.. Don't start building it to 4 while you're countering the enemy ambush, because it'll be underwhelmingly too late.. and don't start building it the moment you leave base because it will drain your health too quickly to use it so often for no reason. 7. Don't use your pool for damage during laning phase. It doesn't do enough damage to warrant using it for healing or damage, use it primarily as an escape when the jungler throws a skill shot or CC. During mid/late game team fights, you can maybe use it for extra damage if you're confident you won't be targeted when you come up. but I personally just rely on my E>Q combo for multi-target damage and W soley for dodging abilities/ults while running away 8.Consider taking ghost instead of flash. Sometimes I use flash, but with your pool, ghost is better for catching up with the enemy and outrunning offenders that can kill you. 9. Depending on the situation, keep your wards up and push the waves with E>Q hard enough to force the enemy under tower/to harass you in the middle of large minion waves. Sometimes the enemy is too ham you need to let them keep the wave pushed to your tower instead, but most of the time the best method is to push to enemy turret, keeping an eye out for the jungler, forcing your enemy to lose CS to turret while poking them safely under their tower without taking turret aggro.

And lastly, 10: LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES! If you pooled just as Riven headed towards you, who waited until you came back up and then wombo'd you... it's not your junglers fault. Its yours. Instead of blaming others, recognize how you died and what you should do to prevent it from happening again. Renekton dashed into a turret dive, completeing his rage bar, and stunned you, allowing him to dash again before Q'ing twice and kill you?Don't use pool again until he blantatly dashes at you, and only then, and don't get minion hungry and run too far out of tower range to last hit a minion or two lest his combo you again under tower. You were surprised by enemy jungler and ganked to death? Stop pushing so hard without any vision of the enemy.

Like I said, even vs. his counters like swaine and fiddle, if you take their aggressive harass in stride and just let one or two of your minions go un-lasthit in exchange for the enemy rushing to get an ability or two off of you and missing (or succeeding, them taking minion damage, and then you healing back up with Q), you'll be able to successfully keep up with their farm while denying them any kills, even hopefully getting kills of your own if you roam or the jg comes to help you out.

If you're top lane against a sustain Wukong with flask and pots, you aren't getting ANYWHERE near those minions.

I'm not claiming you can 1v1 him if you're not ahead, but even if he does his best to constantly harass you, and even if the jungler camps top (and barring risky/hard tower dives), I still disagree. Yes, you have to do a little work, like making sure the lane pushes to your tower and freezing it appropriately (like sometimes freezing just before tower range so if you get jumped on you can move back a little and have some protection, preventing the minions to wittle down the tower every wave), and after he hits 6 you have to be that much more cautious.. But if your priorities fall to CS before harassing, and only harassing to bait out his potions and flasks, instead of hoping to score a kill... He'll eventually back off if you don't get impatient and keep working the lane (or he should at least).

Yes, I do get that there are going to be players who are better than you who make the lane impossible, or that it's always 100% possible to keep the lane pushed towards you.. I am not claiming I have had a strong laning phase every time I've played Vlad, I am just saying, in general, it isn't as easy to bully him out of lane as you're implying if you focus on CSing at range with your Q and E. Sometimes he does get bullied out by a really good opponent, but it hasn't been my experience.

Vlad has hands down one of the weakest laning phases in the game. His CDs are too high until at least level 9. Wukong will position himself between you and the minions, he will freeze the lane and only run over to get last hits. Then anytime you attempt to Q a minion, he will E+Q you.
