I am trying to record my gameplays on League to make montages using OBS (since I cant stream on a laptop.) However OBS records it to a flv file. Windows 10 media player cant play the file. How can i make this work?

That is really weird because when I updated I was suddenly able to run FLV and MP4 in Windows Media Player when I previously could not.
You can tell it to save them as MP4 instead of FLV by replacing FLV extension at the end of the filepath with .mp4. This is where you tell it where you want to save the recordings instead of stream them.
