Riot is like a Public School

A kid gets kicked in his crotch and is getting the shit beat out of him, the one getting beat up throws a push to get the attacker off of him. A third kid tells the attacker to get the hell off of him.

All kids get suspended.

If you defend enough people in Ranked, or defend yourself, you can get falsely reported for verbal enough so that you get a chat restriction. The attackers take you down with them.

Just muting them is like walking away from a kid getting the shit beat out of him. It solves the problem for you, but not for the team mate getting attacked. Riot shouldn't encourage this type of bystander behavior. "just mute and move on." No, if someone is being a douchebag I'm gonna tell them to stop.

I have a 30 game chat restriction because of it. But it was worth it.

That is supposed to teach kids that violence is not how you solve problems. If students are in a fight, the authorities should be notified. They should not escalate the fight by having more people jump in.

Starting a shouting match during a LoL game is stupid, moronic, and idiotic. Just mute them, report them at the end of the game, and get on with your life. There are waaaaay too many more important things in life that if someone bitches at you in a 20-50 minute game session.

I got chat restricted after 1 game talking on my alt account on LAN.

I was level 10, had legit not said anything but saying pref x role in champ select and nothing at all in game except pings, as I assumed it was less likely they would understand english, so didn't want to be rude and assume.

The game right when I hit level 10, I happen to be in a game with lots of english speaking smurfs, and 1 guy was actually new to the game (or so he claimed, but the way he played and built, I believed him). The poor guy was doing terrible, as he was going for intermediate bots pretty fast and wasn't ready.

Person A (don't remember which lane they were in) started just going OFF on this poor dude, wouldn't stop. So I finally just got sick of hearing it and asked him to please stop, the guy is probably new. He ignores me and keeps going until the new guy asks him to stop, and says he is new and just trying to learn, and being "shit talked" wasn't helping.

at this point my support started in helping with the trash talk saying it was "normal" and "sort of like a hazing or right of passage" that new people get trash talked, so he might as well get used to it, because it was expected that if you are new you will get "shit on" as the guy worded it.

I was floored cause...I've been here since 2011 and ...yeah no, that isn't a "normal" thing. So I am trying to defend this guy, I wasn't cursing at either of these guys, but was asking how they thought this was okay, could they please stop, etc.

Both of them I guess reported me because I had logged out, the VERY next game I was already chat restricted.

So from one game (I'm not lying, I can show you the level 10 account I haven't bothered playing since) I was chat restricted for standing up to an actual new player being bullied by two idiots.

I usually scoff when someone says they were chat restricted after 1 game and go "yeah right you are toxic" but I was lvl 10 and hadn't even played enough games to say much, and as I stated, I hadn't said anything in the actual game or after lobby outside of maybe gg if that outside of the 1 game. 1 game, defending someone being bullied by two guys, they both false reported me, and I was chat restricted.

Technically speaking, if you reply calmly without swearing or being rude, they have no reason to punish you. If they do however punish you, you can always submit a ticket stating you feel like you were wrongfully punished, and would like someone from Riot to tell you what it was exactly (with proof) that you did wrong.

You shouldn't combat toxic behavior with toxic behavior, that's like fighting fire with fire (which, when you think about it, only makes a larger fire).
