Will Riot actually make important notices on this new beta forum?

Just asking since they don't even do it on their own actual forums and prefer to do so on Reddit.

"Seriously, why the hell is Brackhar posting his warning about dupe games only on Reddit? You guys have official forums, you know. Why are you making people look at a third party site for important info?" http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3925764

Pretty sure that there is a shitton of information that is distributed on the forum and not on Reddit. Also, the way that Reddit works favors posting there since 1 post will be much easier to find in there (due to upvotes) than on the Forum.

Otherwise, pretty sure that the most important information is always on the front page. What brackhar said is basically "You can and most probably will get banned for breaking TOS", which is plainly a fact.

It's called pinning a thread...they do it all the time, particularly with a situation such as this.

In fact, right now on the forums there is a thread encouraging us to try out this community beta. They could simply pin this info on the forums while it is still relevant.

Except that in a forum where the top post = most recent, pinning a thread adds in a lot of noise.

Or rather, in a forum where top = most recent, ther is a lot of noise, and the less space you have, the more noise you have. If you have to pin every single statements (teasers for next champions are included? statements on bugs? statements on foreign servers? statements on current server? statements on balances? teasers on balance? since imo, most of those are more important than a mesasge that even the initiator of the 5v5 games said : "This is most probably against the TOS since we modified the client"

I'm not saying every little announcement should be stickied/pinned, but sometimes things such as this come up and they want people to know about this.

As for other things you mentioned, perhaps the forums are not the best place, but they certainly have a perfectly good website to promote these things. I shouldn't have to go to a third party website (Reddit or otherwise) to see what the deal is. If the info is REALLY pressing, they could even give an in-client message like they do when ranked is down, etc. Reddit should be the secondary source for news, discussions, previews etc, not where they post first.

On that point I mostly agree, and this is probably why they created this community. Basically if the previous structure didn't enable you to do certain things, make a new one.

Otherwise, you can't discredit the fact that a shitton of players are going on reddit everydays, and I believe that even if the thread would be on a billboard on the street, but reached a few hundreds of messages in 1 or 2 hours, they should probably send a man down there to explain in person, in the street, what is happening.

Important announcements can be stickied as they always have been. The duping statement hasn't been made on their own front page either, only Reddit.

Anyways, Brackhar just now made a thread regarding the duping. I only hope it was planned to be this late and not made just because I complained about it here. http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3930550

Ok, this seals the deal. So apparently "5Xv5Y is not an official game mode and will be removed" is a primordial announcement.
