When should I build Rod of Ages, Morellonomicon, or Frost Queen's Claim as first item on Lissandra?

I bought LissandraLissandra a few days ago, and after reading numerous builds and watching several Challenger games, I'm curious to know in which situations is it better to start with RoAitem 3027, Morelloitem 3165, or Frost Queen's item 3092 . I've seen a lot of pros build them, but my amateur-level knowledge of most champions makes it difficult for me to determine which one is better for any given match-up.

Just to be clear, I am aware that Zhonya'sitem 3157 and Abyssal item 3001 are also potential first items, but I actually know when it's a good time to get one of those.

It really depends on what your lane is. If they trade aggressively and have a lot of kill potential on you, the sustain and HP from a Rod of Ages is your best bet. If it's the other way around (they're weak early and YOU have a lot of kill potential on THEM), a Morellonomicon gives you the early hit of AP to take them down when you hit your level 6 spike. FQC isn't as good after all the nerfs, and it's certainly not a must-have, but it's best in a fairly even matchup; it gives you the AP and mana to clear and trade well, as well as accelerating you towards your late game build.

Another way to think about it is what part of the game you want to dominate. If you're looking for presence in late game teamfights, a Rod of Ages is your best bet. If the lane is your stomping ground, a Morello is a good choice. If you're looking to leverage your mid game pick potential around dragon or baron fights, a FQC is your best friend.
