Pick order > Call order

I have one main point I want to get across about this topic: this should not be as big an issue. I've been in so many champ selects where I will ask politely to play a certain position because I've been practicing it more than others and it would significantly increase our chances of winning if I had that position rather than filling adc or support for example. I can remember not one time where someone politely asked or told me why they should play that position instead of me. Instead I hear "pick order > Call order".

Not only do they use this to justify bullying their champ choice rather than working for a strong team comp, they also 90 percent of the time include snide remarks about whoever is last pick being a worse player. Using their own logic, if that player is worse all around player, why would you want that person playing a glass cannon like adc or another role they might unintentionally "feed" at? It seems to me that it would make more sense to have them put in a role they are strongest at if possible so they don't get so far behind that you are often in as bad or worse a position than playing 4v5. It astounds me how many players are blind to this concept.
The gaming community has made vast improvements. however, this scenario alone make the experience often unenjoyable for those who try to bring a positive gaming experience to this community. I see the problem being partially selfishness and partially ignorance. The selfishness seems capable of being handled by tribunal, as many of those players break the summoners code. I am hoping the ignorance is addressed ASAP by teaching players this concept.

unfortunately what you're asking for is a cultural shift on the internet. that's unlikely to happen. as with the post below. rudeness is rampant.

anyway, team builder is going to remove the situations that you're talking about. too bad it starts off only for blind pick.

listen mr self entitled. There is one reason your post is bad, and thats because you think only of your world and your self.

EVERY person that quotes to you "pick order > call order" has had to argue with about 5000 trolls and are sick of arguing. They want to type the shortest thing possible and get back to talking strat so they can win, not chit chat with you about how f*%$#&@ polite you are.

You assume your best is better than their best, this is egotistical. You know how many times some one was "nice" and gave away a role only to watch a "best at mid" feed 10 kills to a fizz?. No one has time to cater to you because you're too unskilled to learn more than 1 role.

State your preferred roles then STFU unless you have something to contribute. Get in game and give it 100% no matter what role you are instead of sulking and arguing with your team in chat during a game.

Riot may have "officially" stated that call order < pick order, but the biggest thing Riot stresses is team communication. Not communicating with your team (in queue and in game) IS A REPORTABLE OFFENSE. If you are going into games rushing into the role you want with no willingness to communicate and compromise, then you are just becoming part of the problem. Don't feel as if your actions are justified because you are following the rules of pick order - go above and beyond with your team. Be willing to sacrifice what you personally want for the greater good of the team. I realize some people are jerks - be the better person.

That being said, if you are doing that, then good job, here are 2 kisses for you :3 :3

I kind of find pick order and call order a bit silly. If you would rather use pick order to force a person out of a lane they are potentially better than you at and potentially cause conflict amongst your team than have at it.

Effective communication is key during the pregame rather than who gets to pick first or who called that lane first. Of course this still the internet and this kind of thing is a pipe dream rather than a regular occurance. Hopefully the team builder will fix some of these problems.

Also the blind pick pregame is wayyy too short with only call order and team communication to organize things.

I love this post. I completely agree with you on most of your points and hope to find you on my team if you think this way.

One thing to keep in mind too, typically when matched with other players you are all in the same ballpark of elo. Most times, pick order has nothing to do with skill order. Anyone who has spent any amount of time on this game knows that if someone is one or two tiers higher than someone else (Silver V to Silver III), Silver III player may or may not be "better" than the Silver V one. It's even more true in lower ranks.

Point I am making is that I have never been a fan of putting the "higher elo" player as first pick. Makes no sense in my opinion. It breeds exactly what you're talking about. Not to mention this player who very well may be the worst player on the team as the first pick thinking he is 'high and mighty'.

I think you ought to be able to ban teammates instead of champions. for the guy who says pick order > call order, I can ban and not have to play on a team with this selfish dude who probably has <40% wins and has no concept of the team game.

Nice post. I enjoyed reading it and agree. =)

Riot has officially endorsed Pick Order for reasons that are completely logical. Prior to that, though, I was all about Call Order even though I refused to scramble and type in the lane I wanted like some sort of meth addict. I just waited to see what was left, and played that. No big deal.

However, as the lobby order is random, despite people's constant assertions to the contrary, Pick Order just makes sense all the way around. And while I do occasionally run across the person who screams "Pick Order, noob!" like some obsessed fanatic, I always advocate building a strong team over playing the champion or role that you want to just because you think you're good at it.

And truthfully, I've seen it happen way too many times where people who claim they are so "pro" at whatever role/champ it is they desire...are far from being as good as they claim. I've given up being kind and letting someone have a slot that I know I can fill and perform well in. Basically I trust myself more than I trust you. If I can't do it, I'll let someone else try.

i cant find the post but the only thing that i can say since everything else that has been said has been is, there is an official post on how they want you to like someone said cooperate but however they can not enforce pick order over call order so overall call order > pick order. :( (please no hate on me for what riot said)

Thank Riot for endorsing pick order instead of saying neither pick order or call order is right but that people should COMMUNICATE.
