My friend thinks he is the next Trick2g and claims that thresh is broken and that udyr is harder. He says that it takes no skill to land a thresh hook, and that it is "not even a skill shot." He also claims that thresh is not a mechanically high skill cap champion.

udyr is one of the easiest champions as his survivablitily always makes your kda look good even if you make lots of mistakes
I think this is really up to personal experience really. I can play Thresh with ease but with Udyr I fail at everything.
If you think Udyr is hard you suck.
Udyr's kit is easier, but winning with him is much harder since he has no distance attacks. So it depends on your definition of harder.
Udyr is harder because he has no range low cc no ulti (Pheonix sucks btw) and Thresh has 3 really good cc abilities a dash, auto attack damage+, lantern shield+ utility of lantern grabbing Udyr is mostly missing the utility part so Thresh you just QQRWE and freelo
