I have two friends I play League with, both of them buy high-end Razer and Turtle Beach gaming equipment and it's completely unnecessary. Sometimes those equipments come with features that you can't find on a cheaper item, and if that's what you really think you need to do better at an MMO, RTS, or MOBA, then let me introduce you to "No Hands OP": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsiWnRRPYWM The streamer with amputated arms who's reached Diamond.
Expensive equipment isn't going to make you better. At most, you impress your friends for an hour. 70% of the cost of Razer equipment is because of their recognized brand name. Do I hate companies like Razer and Turtle Beach? No. They're making money the best way they know how: manipulating their customers to believe their equipment is worth the price, either in function, quality, status, or all three. That's their business.
I gave the product test mouse to one of the two friends I mentioned earlier, and asked him how much I paid for it (It comes with a counterweights feature a lot of expensive gaming mice have). He played with it for 6 hours and told gawked at how pretty it was and how well it functioned, and told me he wouldn't expect the final price to be less than $99. It's only $13 (as you'll see from the product page).
Sometimes the extra cost is worth it, most of the time it isn't. I'd expect to pay a hefty sum for a nice webcam, for example. Get on Newegg.com or Amazon.com and search for highly rated peripherals for a lower price. It won't have Razer stamped on it, but it will be affordable and it'll work forever.
