Dragon grievous wounds context pls?
I would really like to know what the thinking is behind adding grievous wounds to Dragon. While it's true that some high-sustain champions use their sustain to kill dragon with relative ease in the early game, but is this really a problem? It seems to me that taking dragon solo early has some pretty obivious tradeoffs. The jungler puts himself at risk of being collapsed upon by the enemy if they have vision of what he is doing. Even if the jungler sweeps out wards in the area before getting to work, that action in and of itself should arouse suspicion, and the jungler is still at risk of being caught out (and may even have to invest in a pink ward to reliably sweep the area). If the dragon pit isn't warded, well that's the enemy bot lane's fault, and there's still a chance that the enemy jungler or a roaming laner may pass by. And there are always other things the jungler could be doing with his time. If one jungler soloes dragon while the other ganks bot, gets two kills, then it probably would have been better to countergank than to solo dragon.
There are a number of champions who use their ability to solo dragon to make up for their lackluster ability to aid their team in other areas. Is it really necessary to reduce, Sion's or Warwick's ability to take dragon, when there are so many other downsides to picking such a weak early jungler? Maybe the ability to solo dragon early is a bit much when it coincides with other strengths in the jungle, but I think this change will hurt some junglers which are fairly weak at the moment, so I would be interested to know what benefit this change is supposed to bring to the game.
If fiddlesticks is the problem (fid is one champion who can take dragon pre-6 while still bringing other strengths to the jungle) then why not reduce the effectiveness of his drain on Dragon/Baron specifically rather than a change that will affect many other junglers?
If this change does go through, I feel like Champions who are already strong in the jungle will just get stronger, and weak ones will get weaker. Elise will still be able to solo dragon (in addition to everything else she can do) because her ability to kill dragon relies not on her sustain, but on her spiderlings' ability to tank and her percent health damages). In general, junglers who have good clears and strong ganks already prized in the jungle will not notice the change.
Edit: I've heard a rumor that Dragon will no longer reduce attack speed (but that the tooltip has not been changed), which might mean that my fears for Sion or Warwick (or any other champion who relies on basic attacks to solo dragon early) might not be justified. I'd still like to know Riot's thinking about soloing dragon though, since I've always liked it as a tactic to help the team outside of ganking.
is crying right now
