Why was Dominion not featured in the "Basics" video by Riot?
For just that split second. It showed the other maps Riot has to offer. Yet it completely skipped right over Dominion in favor of Howling Abyss.

They have been explaining a Lane Pushing Game. A gamemode that revolves around pushing lanes and bringing down turrets.
Dominion is a Hero Brawler. It's too different from the Classic gamemode.
Also, my own observation, Riot is rather ashamed of Dominion's failure. Of course it's their own fault, since they epicly failed to advertise or balance this mode, let alone introduce a system of ranked queue and seasonal rewards. Nevertheless, the Dominion fiasco is a much bigger turnover than people think - it includes the whole Journal of Justice shutdown, for example.
TL;DR: Riot has no damn clue what to do with Dominion - or their decision is to ignore it.
Cuz Dominion is "Advanced". It's don't have a clear strategy like SR, less time to think and lot more complex mechanic to archieve victory.
