Any way to appeal a chat ban?

So I recently got slapped with a chat ban for 12 games like a week ago, and admittedly, totally deserved, I'm not regularly toxic, but I had a bad few days and that was carrying over into my games. However I finished that out, and decided to try to just talk less, get myself in less trouble.

However I play with a group of friends pretty often, and we talk shit to each other because we've known each other like 8 years and its just fine, its how we talk to each other. Recently however one of them has been trolling me because he's pissed off and reporting me after each game for verbal abuse because I refuse to unmute him. I didn't think anything of it until I got hit with another 20 game chat ban. Now I understand there are systems to detect whether or not you're being verbally abusive, but I doubt they're nuanced enough to pick up the context in which something was said or who it was said to. Without that context of "these are my friends" it might look like I'm being negative or abusive, or overly critical but I wasn't I was busting my friends balls because thats how we are.

All this being said I'm really quite irritated with this chat ban, maybe I deserve it, maybe I don't I just wondered if there's a way I can appeal this?

If you aren't playing with your friends as the entire team, then you might still be annoying to the other people. Use a voice chat with them and you can shit talk each other all day without inconveniencing the random people in your group. The people who were reporting you had every right to do so, by what you have said here, so while you can contest the ban by submitting a Support Ticket, they won't do anything because the reports were legitimate.

Take my advice; either don't shit talk too much when there are strangers, or use a voice chat such as Skype or Curse Voice.

If you're on a 5-man premade I'm pretty sure it ignores any verbal abuse/negative attitude reports from your teammates. At least Tribunal cases did.

If you're playing with random people on your team... don't spam stupid crap in chat, it annoys the hell out of the other people. Get Skype if you want to chat with just your friends.

In any case, if you want more information or to appeal, try here: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/requests/new

That's fair. However I know for a fact everyone was getting on well in the game I was reported in (and this is the only report I've received since ending that first ban) there was 1 random on our team who was talking with us, and getting along just fine. So it's not a matter of spamming or annoying other players, but occasionally I'll make a comment about a friend's build or decisions, whatever the case may be. The person who reported me was part of the pre-made and he did it purely to troll me.

Sounds like you need to choose your friends better if they'll stab you in the back so easily.
