These take away from focus on winning with the team, and shift focus towards getting yourself some points on a champ.
I can see horrible choices made in ranked games champ select and gameplay due to this.
Seeing as spamming a champ will eventually get you to "master" level on it, they are pointless anyways.
Riot, please keep this feature out of ranked.
If it's spam to get rewards then it shouldn't be implemented entirely

I can't count the amount of times I've seen someone taking a champ into ranked for the first time... ever. Veteran bonuses will encourage people to get more skilled at specific champs vs picking FotM picks because they are OP and play who they are skilled at.
Garen / Shen / Leona / Morgana / Fiddlesticks veteran gearing up.
