Weekly Riot Podcast
I like league. I like how it had never forced you to play one stereotype of role and if it was marksmen meta assassins and mages were still viable. I enjoyed that (for the most part) they tried to listen tithe community.
However, I was trying to listen to the podcast for the mymu and it's honestly the most boring thing I have ever heard. We know that when riot releases something they mostly like it and will try and get the community to like it.no one argues that point. However in talking about the mymu all I heard were the 4 people parroting how cool and how original and how awesome this was. -_-
First off I love the dragon idea. It's unique, interactive, and fun. However even I, a silver scrub, see the issues with it for proplay and regular. It pushes the meta towards early game duelers and skirmishers with scaling champions being shafted.
In addition, the quasi randomness of it hurts preparation so teams have to build around not knowing if they will get bonus damage or more tank (and tbh the movespesd will be either meh or op)
Second the mages are being really well tunes imo. However the items are ok at best. The effective result of the item update is to make out play mages more op and the inherent weaknesses of many immobile mages goes away. Annie becomes broken and I never want to face a ryze. Also champions that scale off health and AP have received a huge buff while more poke/burst mages received a huge nerf. Mages lose 50 damage (not AP) per second if they go max AP build now vs before and if they don't then they lose potentially up to 150 damage (not AP) per second. While that's not a ton in 1 second, it's astronomical over a game of 2100 seconds. (This is also ba a full mix defense tank. Vs a squishy it's even more) Also regardless of community worry and discussion the dash was kept which only shows the disconnect between the item developers and the people who actually play the game. Let me reiterate that velcoz xerath ziggs Zyra malzahar etc are all immediately trash their from their ineffective use of this item.
This update while attempted well only successfully buffed ad assassins and AP outplay champs (also Annie ryze and onther instagib cc bots). The immobile mages that truly needed the buffs were left out in the cold. Let's be real here. Zed will never be nerfed to reasonable status cause riot loves the champion. They said explicitly that ahri will always be meta. No one is at all confused that this is a meh update at best.
Tbh this reminds me of the chroma skin fiasco where riot went "we know better then u" and the player base ended up just making the same thing riot was selling for free. Don't ignore all the pros and players who distrust this update. And for the love of all that is demacia don't pretend in a riot podcast that everyone loves it. People parroting each other is boring, show s lack of openness to change and critique. And makes the player base think you really don't care.
Edit: also to reiterate another person all mages wanted was a second AP armor item not a nerfed to the ground zhonyas.
