Dr.Mundo

I recently was playing Dr.Mundo on an ARAM map and realized that when you have warmog's armor and use his abilities the damage done to him through his abilities doesn't reset the passive ability of warmog's armor. Is this a glitch or did Riot intentionally have this so you don't need to turn on and off your W? Please answer if you know. Thank you.
