Pick Order

When we click that big PLAY button, and decide for a game in ranked. We know we will get paired with people that will likely want the same role as you do. When you join the room, no one speaks. You say "(role) pref," then the first pick picks there champion. You are third pick. Second pick decides to take your role that you called for. What do you do?

This has been a problem for me for a while but only in a couple of games. I play a pretty common role, mostly mid, which a lot of other people want and get before me. I am fine with dealing with people who pick before me. By that I mean separately and before. But when people are just above me and decide to autolock mid even though they know I want it but say "pick order" as an excuse. It just pisses me off.

I just had a game with one of those people. I got into a game, called mid, then while we picked at the same time, he autolocked gangplank mid and tried to tell me that it was all pick order. He told me it was a part of the summoner's code but I checked and it only talks about supporting your team (real good job he did there). I stayed on my vel'koz because the person below me did not want to support, so I respected him and went support vel ( I would have gone Janna but they already had Janna). The gangplank then just harasses me all game to the point I just hate the game and just want to surrender asap. Easily the worst game I've had in a while.

Honestly, I consider anyone above me to pick before me. Even if we both pick at the same time, if you're 2nd and I'm 3rd, I'm gonna let you have the role that we both want simply because you come before me on the list.

In return, I've noticed that most other people seem to follow this same general rule about 95% of the time in my games.

Pick Order isnt in the Summoners Code, however, its stated as a useful tool to avoid fighting in the pre-game lobby, the problem with this, is that even though this is a teamwork game, it actually promotes abusing your teammates into positions you do not want, so it's actually, like many things unhealthy for the game, it also proves when a team isn't being cooperative.

you shouldnt play ranked solo until you can adiquitely play all roles though you may perfer to play other roles but pick order is general rule among players

The point is the teamwork and cooperation, we all play the roles, I play all above average except top and jg. My point being is that pick order would force me to do either of my weakest roles. And more often than not, when people choose pick order, they do something they are trying for the first time, or something they say they main and end up feeding because they to do big lcs plays and stuff.

Summoners Code is only in game conduct, it has nothing with do with in game systems.

Riot has stated that PICK order is the only order. Pick order has been confirmed and anything else is punishable.

Why do you post when you do not have a clue what you are saying? You obviously lack any game history.

Now for realz Kaosu Desu...They may state that its the only order, but that doesn't make it the right way to go about it everytime. I also see no point in you coming here only to insult me about my knowledge of this game, because I don't care for the Games History, a game is a game, if I came to enjoy something about a games history, id play games like Dragon Age or Mass Effect, where previous games can change the outcome of the other games. Finally, this game is a team-based game, you are meant to work together, and pick roles you are strongest at, Pick Order, does not do that, you know what does that? 5-man pre-made teams. Because everyone knows what they are strongest with, I may be good overall, but I'm best at mid, unfortunately if someone calls Pick Order, they probably want to play a role they suck as, just to get out of a role they find boring. So yeah, Riot may have stated its the only Order, but that doesn't make it right. Just like if I told you to kill a bird, because it pooped on your car, it may be fact, but that doesn't make it right.

and you show how foolish you are with that statement. Pick order is the only fair way. You have a 1 in 5 chance on being in pick spot (unless in a multi que). The fact that we use random assignment proves why it is right. Even if you are paired up with a mutli que group your personal chance is still 1 in 5 for every lane.

Let me fix this for you. Do not post if you do not have a clue what is going on, it fixes everything. You do not get to say something showing your ignorance and then get a free pass.

Riot stated that, if and only if communication fails, pick order should be used to settle the argument.

Communication still takes priority.

Funny thing about that. Communication will instantly fail if both sides are not willing to talk. So if there is no communication or it is only one sided, you have to default to pick order. Which makes pick order really higher than communication. Cause a player can always refuse on the bases talking is toxic.

I am not saying that you it is impossible or that you should not talk. But unless something is agreed upon by the group or 2 parties, pick order is king.

Pick order is used as a last resort when all else fails. Riot has stated that they prefer the players communicate, but they realized that many who play their game refuse to communicate and supported pick order as the final determining factor.

Unfortunate that they actually needed to weigh in on this, but GIFT is rampant among the player-base.

unless they decide to give you the spot its thiers to take but they should communicate where they are going people want to be quite and pick a champion and think that secures where they are going like champions cant go into another lane. blind pick operates on first called first served but some times there seems to be problems depending on connection

I wait 15 seconds, if they haven picked i am assume at that point that they are allowing me to pick first. If we happen to pick a champ at the same time, its never a big deal. I see if they lock or change and try to talk to them in chat. At worst since i do not auto lock as the lower pick i take another lane.

Pick order is what Riot has endorsed as the correct system in ranked, there is a link to the post on forums where this is from. Pick order is meant to be a last resort when settling disputes and communication always comes first but if no agreement can be found then Pick order is what should be followed.
