If you have less than 10 champions available to be gifted, you will be gifted a skin instead.

You must have at least 10 champions that you haven't own yet. If you have less than 10, you get a mystery skin. :D

You're not getting it for free. Enjoy a skin that adds glamor. I'll be enjoying a champion I don't have to save up for with pleasure.

Well in a worst case scenario:

  • that champion is Ryze
  • and you've just finished a match to get over 450 IP.
  • after finishing that match, only then Riot send you that mystery champion.

Oh, the pain....
