Friend's Status in New Client

I just got the update patch for the new client - looks beautiful! Great job!

Unfortunately, I did notice a simple UI change that immediately seemed less useful - the new client does not show friend statuses on the chat window. Now, any time I want to see a friend's status, I have to open up the friend window and find them on the list! Could this be added back sometime in the future? It is a very good usability feature and would be much appreciated.
