Reporting
I think we need to be able to report outside the post match window. I reported a player because he was toxic all game. I muted him before 4 minutes as he was trashing his ADC (that he was supposedly on Skype with) in chat. He was hyper critical, and whether he realized it or not, his advice was not interpreted by others as kindly. Sure enough, the raging started early as gauged by the other 3 teammates' responses to him. After the game, I tried to explain why I muted him. I was hoping (stupidly) to convince him to take a break and calm down before game three of his promos (he said he was 1-1) and explain why everyone was upset with his advice. He started to seem like maybe he was calming down and being receptive. I used his first communication with me as an example. I saved my smite for Gromp (first jungle mob) which you normally don't do. He told me I should have started with it. I agreed, but told him that I had had a few games recently (welcome to Bronze ranked) where the ADC had accidentally (or even on purpose) gotten the last hit on gromp. This makes my jungling more difficult, so I waited to secure the gromp and took the extra damage.
When I explained this and told him that I understood that he didn't mean for it to sound critical, he seemed confused. I told him that there might have been a better way to phrase it for others. Simply asking if I knew it was better to smite first would have made it a little less critical to some. I had pointed out earlier that what we type doesn't always convey our tone or attitude and therefore it is easier to read the wrong intent in our words. At this point, he asked me if I was "a girl or 12? Since I was being such a bitch..." At that point, I told him that he was clearly not mature enough to reason with, wished him good night, and left. I would like to be able to report someone a second time for that level of misogyny and sexism. I am a middle aged man. I was trying to teach him something that I thought would helpful to him and his teammates in the future. Stupid maybe, but I'm a father so I figure trying to help strong willed teenagers (which I can only assume he is from the level of maturity shown) is good practice for my kids later on. I'm not going to name the summoner, but I have that information if Riot would like to do something about it, especially considering their recent spotlight on couples playing LoL together (I would think that kind of misogyny would be a turn off for female players and their significant others - I know it was for myself and my wife. She stopped trying out the game to play with me after a few similar encounters with like-minded raging people).
Thank you for reading.
