MMR help?

Okay, so I'm bronze 5 mostly, and sometimes bronze 4. Let me explain what is happening and why I am confused. I am not a great player, so I ended up all the way down with 0 points in B5. Okay, bottom of the bottom. got it. I am trying to have fun and learn more and get better.

When I start winning in B5 and get to the promo for B4, I get in. Every time. When I get to B4, I lose 19-23 points per loss and gain 15-17 points per win. That is what gets me. If I win 50% of the time, I will have 0 points (I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that winning 50% of your games will result in a slight incline in the rankings). When I lose a couple in a row, I go back to B5. I win about the same amount of LP I lose in B5, if not, I might win slightly more points than I lose in B5.

I asked a player about this after a game once, and he said my MMR was too low. And THAT RIGHT THERE is where I am confused. It seems the MMR system and the B5/B4 LP system are NOT properly aligned. One system says move up, the other system says, you're not good enough. #Confused.

You're losing games against players who have a lower average mmr than you, so the system thinks you should be lower than you are and you lose more lp than you gain.

The issue is that MMR is the number that really matters for anything. The Bronze 1/2/3/4/5 ratings are honestly pretty irrelevant to life as a whole, it's just a way to break up season rewards easily.

They attempted to balance it by putting certain tiers and assigning an MMR Range to them, but that's obviously a pretty awful system for those at the low end of the spectrum, especially because if your MMR is low for B5 you're just completely fucked, and you're given the false expectation of climbing, when you really aren't.
