On My Way Pings

Hey, it's been a while since I have come up with anything worth sharing with the community, but I think my mind has stumbled upon something that could potentially be useful and enriching for League of Legends players that are in-game with people they do not know.

So here's the deal- you're in top lane, doing pretty alright, when the enemy has the minions starting to push the lane a little bit. Your jungle Poppy sees this on the minimap, and happens to be nearby so she utilizes the awesome Smart Ping to indicate that she's on her way to give that what for.

Suddenly, enemy gets a good combo on you and you drop to a little less than 1/4 your health while you barely manage to get an autoattack's worth of damage on them. Retreating to tower, you remember that Poppy is on her way, and may not have seen this small engagement that put you at a highly vulnerable position. At your current state, you don't think it's a good idea to try and engage again, thinking the best-case scenario is a kill-for-kill trade resulting in you possibly being worse off in lane when you return.

INTRODUCING MY IDEA NOW! Check it. You hover your mouse over the smart-ping icon that Poppy left saying she'd be there momentarily. Using the same method to call your own smart-ping, it brings up two options- a check 'yes' mark, or a cross 'no' mark. Selecting the 'no' option, it signals to Poppy that you are not ready for her arrival by ringing a dissuading tone in her ears and changing the color of her path and ping to red.

Poppy now knows that she should come back later, or take a safer path to your lane so that she can protect the tower as you return to base to heal!

So yeah, there's my idea. Add a way to quickly accept or decline the 'On My Way' ping another teammate puts down. I made a pretty picture with MS Paint that I hope you all can enjoy.

I like the thought process, but I have encountered few instances where it would change the game flow. Generally the "fall back" ping is sufficient enough to convey my intent to others. If that doesn't work, then the "Enter"+"B"+"Enter" combo works wonders.

Another concern is that if someone pings my lane, I'll have a click-absorbing landmine that could cause me to lose an input opportunity at a critical moment. Ever been caught while typing? "Hey guys lets push miQWEWERQREW DAMMIT!"

I agree with this. Could be very helpful especially in situations when you can't type. Also I think other smart pings like "cover" and maybe other some other ones that I can't think of now could be implemented. Anyway, GOOOOO POPPY!!!Poppy
