Actually, the MoBA genre started with a Starcraft mod, not a Warcraft one. DoTA was Warcraft, yes, but it was a spinoff of a custom map mod on SC
I dunno, you say that but.. dota was itself inspired by other things, and there were plenty of custom maps on other games with similar concepts. it would probably be different mechanically but.. I disagree with your post.
