Are the pre-season placements really bad?

Maybe it is just me, but I got placed extremely low. I'm not sure if it was supposed to or not. I know it was supposed to make u lower but I mean, I took a huge hit.

I was Silver 2 at the end of last season (I know it's pretty bad). I'm a support main. I won 5 lost 5 in the pre-season. It placed me in Bronze 4.

I know I lost half, but I mean common. I'm not that bad.

What were you last season? What were you placed as in pre-season? How do you feel about it?
