The point of ranked after Season end?
What does playing/improving one's rank in ranked do in this "preseason"? does it influence where you start next season or anything whatsoever?

Your rating at the end of the preseason will influence your placement for season 5. Unless you climb or drop a significant amount from now until the end of the preseason, ranked games during the preseason won't mean much.
