Extra IP for last hit on Nexus

So I've played a lot of matches where people fight all around an exposed nexus, instead of attacking it. I think that extra IP for last hit on Enemy Nexus will focus the players towards destroying/defending the nexus rather than killing enemy champs.

I think this is a good idea, even though this only apply to a third of the cases. If players are fighting around an exposed Nexus, it's generally because they either

  1. Can't take the nexus without getting rid of the defending enemy champs first(Fizz 2-shotting you before you can actually hit it as Caitlyn), or

  2. they've already virtually secured the the victory and simply want to pick up a few score polishing kills before ending the game, and will take the nexus anyway afterwards, or

  3. They can actually take the Nexus despite enemies defending, and are simply not prioritizing in which case you're exactly right. How about converting it to something that's strictly bragging rights instead of an actual gain? (ie. A post-victory message highlighting who delivered the destroying blow)

another potential idea could be a counter for how many nexus' you have destroyes. theres towers destroyed, champion kills, minion kills how about nexus kills?

3 sounded very cool, I like the idea of the post-victory message.

No. This means you can carry a game, die in a late teamfight after killing four of them, and lose out on an IP bonus.

Not a bad idea actually, although it can't be that much or people will find it as an excuse to rage over not getting it. 20-40 IP maybe?

20-40 is about what you get from an whole crystal scar game ._. Maybe 5. 5 sounds right :D

damn it's been a while since I've played dominion, is it really that much? I stand corrected.

Seems like a good idea to me.

One thing to keep in mind is that people will be even less likely to want to play support and tank rolls if they feel like they're missing out on something, and honestly I don't see it as a huge issue. At most it adds another 30 seconds to the game. It's not that big; and, 20-40 is a HUGE amount of IP for something like that. I'd say anyone who assists in killing it gets 5 maybe if this were implemented. I don't see it as an issue however.

You have to make it noticeable enough to actually affect behavior, so I would say 20 is around a good area. 40 is probably too much I agree, but a support doesn't have that much less chance than the adc to get the last hit on a building. You have to win to even get the chance at the IP so I doubt <30IP will affect pre-game choices more than what champs someone is limited to and what they prefer to play.

Realizing the IP reward from dominion I actually resend my previous argument and yes, 20 is also huge comparatively. I'll be quiet now :P

:P It would probably have to change based on the amount of time a game took. The other issue is what happens when a team surrenders? does everyone get assist IP?

I think if you get 20 for the last hit the assists need to be at least 10

Bad idea. Fights over last hit aren't good when you've got 5 people doing their jobs. 5 IP max should be given for it.

what if you just get 10 IP for attacking the nexus within 10 seconds of it being destroyed? you helped

It could be cool :)

And what about a self-defense system like the turet has only now nexus has it to.

Or they'll dance around it and wait for it to be low so they can nuke it down and steal it... The same thing happens when people try to steal buffs. People only fight at the nexus for the cosmetic effect on their match history. Or they think kills still matter more than objectives even when at the Nexus.

pretty bad idea. such a major reward for an arbitrary action is just silly. besides, people could still dance around the nexus and wait for it to get low enough for the carry to last hit. i don't see the support last hitting shit. unfair and illogical.

So I like the idea but it is not that good game sense wise. I like damaging Nexus more than last hit cuz otherwise everyone would go full attack damage even if it is only 5 bonus ip. The problem to all of this is this:

Lets say your team and other team have fight, both teams lose three champs. Your team has the ad carry and mid laner while the other team has ad carry and support or whatever. With just the enemy nexus and 1 tower remaining you guys know you wont win unless you kill the rest of the enemy team. So your mid tries to kill the two enemies getting a double kill but dieing in the process. But meanwhile your adc farms minions or goes for tower. After the mid dies and enemy team is aced your adc gets the win. Even though it was your mid laner that did most of the work only your adc gets the bonus gold.

While this does happen I don't think it is a problem. I have never lost a game because people haven't attacked the nexus, people just like to hang around and pick up kills at the end. Besides you will run into the problem of people waiting and not auto attacking the nexus so they can get the last hit which will just make the situation worse.

You may have never lost a game. BUT I have because I was dead and watching team mates try and be greedy with kills they died! Then the enemy which was in same situation as us only the nexus left made it to ours and won. (happens more in ARAM then Classic)

What about the people who let everyone else do all the damage and then last hit...everybody would do that and try to last hit it, meaning that nobody would actually hit the nexus and then it would result in the other team winning because of the fight over 5 ip...yeah ok never mind you have a point
