How do i get into the college I want?

I know it's weird to be asking the League community, but I really want to go to University of Central Florida (UCF). I have been looking at information on what they require and what i have to offer. I'm going to list some of my stuff just to see if you guys can help me

SAT (2400) score: 1600 -- I will probably take it again just to see if i can get higher, and i'll also take the ACT

GPA: Around a 3.5, I'm in all honors and an AP.

Extracurricular Activities: Varsity soccer - Goalkeeper for both freshman and sophomore year. I didn't play soccer this year because of APUSH.

Band - I have been playing tuba for 6-7 years now. I also play piano and guitar, and currently teaching myself violin.

over 800hrs of volunteer work - Back in 8th grade, i had volunteered at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium every day for 8 hours in the summer, and every weekend for 8 hours a day during the school year. i stopped however after it became hard for my mom and i to keep up with their management changes.

That's basically it. I just need to know if there is anything else i can do to get into the college of my dreams. All advice, harsh or encouraging, will be necessary. RIOT employees welcomed.

Are you white? Colleges have been extremely favoring minorities for admittance because it makes them more diverse.

This is very true. Unfortunately...

Though with those kinds of accolades you should be able to go almost anywhere.

The sun is really helpful in turning me into a redskin, can i do that? plus, in 10-20+ years, white people will be the minority in the states. the Hispanics will be the majority most likely

Add asian to this as well I believe. I believe what some colleges at least used to do was slightly lower the requirements for non-whites and non-asian students. It's not too big, like 100 points on the SAT, but it could make a difference.

Honestly, it really bothers me how that is the case. Don't take this the wrong way, but African Americans, Hispanics, and all other ethnic groups (excluding Asians, who are genius of course.) get more benefits from the state and federal government than anyone. Everyone is suppose to be equal, but it doesn't feel like that.

anyways, i calculated whether or not i can get it, and the SAT and GPA requirements go either way for me. I could get it or not get in, and so it seems it's all about chance.

I believe UCF requires you to write an essay with your application so make sure it's really really good. Don't just throw something together really quickly. Give it a lot of though.

I'm in my Junior year, so I should have some time. The best time to admit is around the beginning of my senior year. That's when most people get accepted.

I understand where you are coming from but I don't want to get too political here. The short version is there's a big debate about equality of opportunity versus equality of results.

I suggest try anyways. I don't know that college's specifics but your extras (band and volunteering) should help your case. It could also be a year by year thing in that you might have to start in a different school and then you can transfer over in a year or two. Sometimes a cleaver work around is all you need to achieve your goals.

And like I said in my other post, some of it is going to be about how popular the program you are applying to is that particular year.

What are the school's requirements and how high is the demand to go there, specifically the degree program you are aiming for? A little research can help you a lot.

PS. when you get to college, remember it's not just what you know but who you know. Networking may help you get a job afterward.

Scores lower than mine have gotten in, but the average is between 1700-1800 on the SAT (2400), and that's still only a 50% acceptance rate i think. My GPA is close around a 3.5, i don't know exactly, I just know I'm there. I would think with all the stuff I'm in that i would have a chance.

I'm interested in business finance and accounting. possibly law school after that.

Okay, there's a good change that those are different colleges within the university. If that is the case, my best suggestion is to try making 2 separate applications; one to the business school and one to the law school. If they let you do that, you might double your chances of getting one or if you are lucky, you'll get a choice.
