Riot cutting back on skin production

Back in the good old days (up to the second half of 2013) 2-4 standalone, non event or champ release related, skins per patch were noting unusual, not to mention patches were also more frequent. This February we got valentines Ashe skin and that was it. Last year we got valentines Jayce + Steel Legion Lux and Garen earlier same month. In July of 2012 we got 6 standalone skins released while in July of 2013 we got 0. This month we seem to be looking at another single skin released. At least this one has fresh new theme.

New unique skins used to be a staple for every big patch and something to look forward to, now all Riot seems to come up with are uninspired holiday and event themed skins that get released at same horrible pace as champions.

I'm not sure how the process goes, but the main focus seems to be balance and rework of the old champions. Also i think it was mentioned somewhere that it takes a long time to come up with a unique skin and with number of skins that are out today, that would be harder.

Yes Riot has slowed the pace of releasing skins and I dont agree with it. I even remembering Riot saying that they dont plan on doing Recolors again. I suggested they do recolors as a second release skin, cause lets be honest sometimes the classic skins for the champions are better than the actual skins themselves. I think having recolors come back would be an awesome thing and would be a great way to bring more 520 skins into the market that arent 2+ years old and would bring in some skins faster. I think they could also do some small model changes like they did with Musketeer Twisted Fate and sell them for 720 rp since now days you can see 975 rp skins have particle changes and 1350 are just below legendary so they have a little more done but not enough to make them legendary. I miss the days of knowing that a new batch of skins would come with patches and wish Riot would bring those days back but I dont think they will ever come cause Riot is to worried about "upping the quality" when I dont really see that much of a rise in quality and see more of them putting quality restrictions on themselves which is going to be their demise in general.

I'd rather want, perhaps need Riot to fix all the bugs and server lags that showed up in Season 4 instead of making new skins. Seriously, what happened to those days when server lags would rarely happen. Now, you won't get at most, 2 days without seeing the server status stating that there's a problem; ranked queues are down, disabled a champion due to bug, chat disconnecting.
