It only took 5 years everyone...
Let me tell you about last Friday night. That week I had risen through a 6 game win streak in Plat 1 into my promos for Diamond (some I carried, others I got carried). That moment I found myself in promos was the most stress filled moment I've ever experienced in my gaming life. I had to play them all right now, so I called my wife in from the other room. Cuddled up with our two dogs I had a spectator, game time!
The play by play
Game 1: Donger style: Brought out one of my favorite pocket picks for the first game, good ole Hiemerdinger. I did this, because it almost always throws your foes off (lets be honest, you don't run into dongers very often). Sadly I could not carry.. 0-1
Game 2: Tristana adc. This game, now this was a interesting game. At around the 1 minute mark both teams collided in the river, a full on brawl with no team wanted to retreat. Started the game with a triple kill on Trist (pickaxe + doran start ftw). However, the other team played exceptionally well in coordinating there efforts into not letting me snowball, but in those efforts of stopping me our top and mid were able to take the victory home. 1-1
Game 3: J4 jungle: This was just a sad game... we had an early lead, got our top laner a kill but our team synergy just wasn't there. This game ended quite poorly for us. 1-2
Game 4: Malphite top: When I get forced to play a role that I didn't want initially I just pick the biggest cc machine I can. Top lane malphite was our golden ticket. Fighting a team of only AD (plus the oriana which I could easily down with my combo) this game was in the bag. 2-2
Two wins, two losses. The stress was real people, I was stress, my wife was stressed, my friends I texted were stressed.. Riot why are you trying to give us heart attacks???
Game 5: I got into champion select, autolock teemo top on our team... That moment everything sinks... this cannot be happening... teemo? Turned to my wife and said welp... this might be over. On the bright side I got my favorite lane, Brand mid. Let me tell you what happened, specially if you're still reading this. Our J4 jungle invaded at level 2, killed their jungle, ran mid to escape top lane/mid which I then killed their top laner. Then teemo solod their top laner... over and over again. Did I forget to mention it was a fiora? The enemy team went on tilt so hard and fell so fast, a 21 minute game. Moral of that story, stick it out. Even if it's a champion you don't agree with have a little faith.
I had done it, we have done it (to whom exactly 200 games worth of people minus my duo que partners I played with/against). Diamond division here I am, be ready. Although i'm certainly done for this season, you can expect me to shoot further next season!
On a side note,
My wife turned to me, "I think I'm done watching League for a long while..." Me, "fair enough."
