"If Riot removes the Institute of War, I will quit playing LoL"

Well, I mean if the institute of war is gone, How will I play league? There won't be a summoner to control my champion.
Will I quit playing the game? No, that would be silly.
However depending on how the new lore goes I might stop reading the lore.
This will definitely drive me towards quitting. The entire game would just be a bunch of random crap based from nonsense.
I might. Probably not immediately but I'd start losing interest. I certainly won't be spending money on the game anymore.
I'm going to point this out...
The first line in the first Tutorial is "Greetings summoner, and welcome to battle training. Click continue to begin."
I hesitate only because the game is mechanically sound. It's just lost it soul.
I doubt I would quit, but I'd be sorely disappointed
I probably won't quit because I wouldn't abandon my champions to this fate alone, but I would be very sad and disappointed. My RP purchases might decrease though...
I'll keep playing the game, but I won't care about the lore anymore.
If a lore change is enough to make you quit the game, I don't mind you leaving.
No only because I've spent too much money.
I wouldn't quit playing Chess if Knights were renamed to Cavalry. Neither will I quit LoL if the name 'Champion' is changed.
Seriously, who plays an action game for the story? There are dozens upon dozens of CRPGs for that.
I want to quit...I really really want to...but the sad thing is, I won't.
This is the first time I've ever wanted to quit playing League of Legends. After all the lore changes, gameplay updates, server issues, after the rage and the climbing and the toxicity...this is what upsets me the most. I have to give credit to the game designers, the game is fun enough to where I won't quit, even though I want to.
I hate this feeling....
Before I vote, I have two questions. What in the name of Patrick Swayze is the Institute of War and how will its leaving impact me playing the game (I am assuming it is what allows me to legally beat the ever-living raisin bran out of other champions)? Like, for example, will it be replaced by the Institute of Peace so all we do on the Rift is negotiate in mid lane in All chat to decide who wins? 'Cause that would suck.
I'll still play, but it will be for the gameplay.
I will no longer be emotionally invested in anything. Just Like I don't buy into legacy/legendary skins unless I like the way they look, as quite honestly they will just open it for sale later. They lost trust, and yet another reason for me to care enough to put money into this game. Their loss, not mine.
Quit? Maybe. Paying for even a single point more RP myself? Not on my life.
I am already considering it. I enjoyed the lore of this game tremendously. However, most of my friends have already moved on to other MOBA types, I am the only one of them that still plays LoL instead of the glut of options available now, DotA2, Smite, Dawngate, others. It is my connection to the lore and the characters that has kept me here. If it changes drastically enough for me to lose that connection, I have no incentive to stay, and many to leave.
I won't quit, but I'll stop reading the lore / caring about story and characters. Of course, that might be enough to eventually make me lose interest anyways.
Hopefully these numbers come true and Riot loses 1/3rd of the player base before they realize they've been out to piss off their loyal fans for the majority of the past 3 years. (that works out to losing 20 MILLION players by the way...)
I've already made my decision. I came to league rather than playing Dota because LoL actually had reasons for the champions to fight and stories that actually meant something. Now, there's no reason to care.
Why would I quit playing LoL for this reason? It in no way changes the gameplay. I understand that Lore is a luxury component to this game and if it is changed or removed then I should not be upset. I clicked accept on the ToS knowing good and well what I was getting myself into.
I will keep playing, and if the lore delivers i will also keep fantisticating on it after the dust will be settled.
It' s a thing i hate, a too much deep retconnection in a game that is not like the comic book they want to make us belive. However i see the point, and as far as i know at Riot are not stupid enough to thing about this stuff for 2 years and the crap on it. Foolishness is foolishness, but i hope they matured a bit since the early years.
Still, if i want to play Super Smash Bros i play Super Smash Bros and i want the least minimum of sense if those cha, pions play in the field of jus... ah wait, now how' re called?
"Summoner! Your darkness beckons! Wait, you're not a summoner any more. And the Institute of War no longer exists... SAY FAREWELL TO YOUR PITIFUL EXISTENCE! I WILL DEVOUR IT ALL!"
I'm not going to quit, but Riot aren't going to get any money from me.
Yeah, if they don't go back on this decision, I'm gonna uninstall because it's clear they don't care about what the playerbase thinks at this point. If you wanted to tell a story without Summoners, you shouldn't have let us summon. No more of my money or time is gonna go into this game.
I'm torn right now. Primary options are as follows:
Quit. I play games where I feel attached to what is going on. As they continually rework champion bios and VO lines and stuff to even make sense with this new story and I lose the ability to even pretend in my head-canon that this is still in the IoW setting, I will lose that connection and the game will not be fun. No fun = why playing? Don't see why people saying its a silly reason to leave are saying so.
The one good thing about this utter debacle is that CCT guy who runs Factions started searching for anywhere he could promote his fan group to try and recruit people to continue playing while accepting his fanon over Riot's canon. If the characters aren't intrinsically warped enough within the actual game (e.g. new VO lines that correspond to bios that change character identities) and I reconcile my in-game experience with the canon of that fansite, I will totally keep playing. As much as I would like to justice administered to Riot for this (by having the lore department's rears reddened using a switch), games are meant to be about fun, not justice. I will continue to play if I can find a way to keep it fun. Simple as that.
It is also possible, though I feel unlikely, that the game elements that are in discord with the new lore are just left there are plot holes or are reconciled in a way that doesn't feel like a big change, and I can just imagine in my head-canon that it's all still old-lore style. Seems they are trying very hard to move away from this though.
So in short, yes, quitting is a very believable outcome I can see coming from myself. I have hardly even logged on, not even for first wins, since their announcement after previously logging in almost religiously, because I feel so disheartened just opening the client and knowing where things might be headed. I've started playing console video games more again. I know for one thing I'm not particularly keen on financially supporting the game after this. It's a system of donating to them based on whether you think it is worth your money to support the cause. I'm not entirely sure it is if the "cause" is such a pathetic trainwreck as what they are turning it into. If I stop buying RP, it sure as hell isn't going to have enough of an effect to make them fold, so what's the harm for me if I stop paying? People who don't care about lore will still pay and support the game so the game will always be here even if I don't buy into it, but if a huge amount of lore-addicts quit or stop buying RP, they might at least have enough of a revenue change to give them pause to consider their next steps before they screw over some other aspect of the game. That's the one thing I CAN guarantee about my stance - even if I remain a player, I'm not going to be spending much if anything on the game anymore because their inability to deliver (instead, rather, to take away what little we do have and give us something shoddy in its place) isn't worth the delivery of my money.
I'll quit playing LoL once Destiny comes out. Till then this is my time killer.
I get that people are pissed about the lore being 'nuked' but come on, who the hell would leave years (or months I dont know when you started) of hard work for the lore being revamped or reworked. If you really are that dedicated into the lore, just give the Riot Lore team a chance since they have done incredible stuff before which was the reason that you fell in love with the lore. Anyway, if you are going to leave just because of the revamping of the lore then I think you truly dont love the League both lore and game.
I really doubt the people that voted "No, I will keep playing LoL" really believe that...
