In ranked it's always a good feeling of teamwork when two people cooperate and pick for each other and trade. It always makes me feel super good about the match, like we're a solid team. Is that just me?
The idea is if you have the IP/RP then you would be able to buy champs that you need (or that your team mate wants. ;) )
Would it be hard to implement this into the client?
In Normal games this would be nice.
Unfortunately in ranked games this would cause problems with Banning.
Remember that in ranked games the pool of bannable Champions consists of all the champions that all the players own. If nobody owns Rengar for example, it does not show up in the bannable champions (which is a good thing of course).
So if you aren't able to ban Rengar and then you buy him afterwards and pick him, the banning system would have a major problem.
I just wish buying skins worked in champ select. The other day i decided while in champ select i wanted to buy an Akali skin, but then it wouldn't let me purchase anything :(
A big issue with this is the client recognizing you own the content. For example, when you buy a skin at champ select, half the time its ready to use immediately, and half the time the client needs to be restarted.
If you bought a champ and it wasn't available for trading immediately, you'd just end up with a bunch of pissed off teammates thinking you trolled them so you could take their role.
Ranked would have the biggest issue with this. The problem with this is that you're supposed to know how to play the champs that you own in ranked, because obviously if you play ranked then you are putting your skills to the test that you should already know. And if you buy a champ to switch with them, even though it's convenient, what if the trade glitches and doesn't go through? Then you are stuck with a champ that you don't know how to play. Plus the banning would be an issue. If the other team is banning and none of your team owns Kassadin, for example, and during the picks you buy him to play, it wouldn't be fair to the other team who tried to ban him. You should have bought him before the match. Even though that the intention of buying for switching is valid, it would cause other issues. I hope that this helps. :)
