How are mastery grades at the end of game determined?

I just finished a game, we were losing by a fair bit, our MasterYi and Vayne were 2/10 and 2/8 respectively, and I was supporting as Lulu . Between myself and our Ezreal mid, we turned it right around and ended up winning, and I finished with a score of 2/0/27, having laid down countless wards, saving, healing, shielding, etc. allies. I ended up getting an S-, which I'm not really complaining about because I know it makes no difference, I'm just curious what I could have done to get an S+. Is it because I only had 2 kills? It'd be cool if it took into account whether or not you're playing a support champ. Thanks! :)

You are only graded against the same champion and role, so it will never matter what the average Mid Lulu or Support Sona is doing, only what other Support Lulu's are.

Riot is the only one with the right data, so it's hard to tell what your shortcomings are unless it's like an obviously low KDA or CS or warding etc.

You can try looking at a third party site, but there's no telling how accurate they are in relation to how your performance is graded for Mastery points. Don't even think it cares about what role you played.
