Being Countered Is Not An Excuse...

Please don't use the excuse,"Oh (blah blah) counters me so that's why i'm feeding so hard :P".. Being countered means nothing when you are feeding 0-3. After that first death you should realize that the champion that you are facing is stronger than you in some way, shape, or form and that you should probably back up and play passively. Yes, you may get caught out in the open sometimes but that's why you keep your distance from that champion. After you realize that you're being countered you should probably change your play style and not try to aggressively cs. I really dislike when this happens. :P

At the same time, however, one kill may be all your opponent needs to tower-dive you a few levels later and kill you without receiving so much as a scratch. At which point, it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to help other lanes if you see an opportunity to do so.

So you're saying that if your facing a teemo support as a pure auto adc, you should just give up on coming out of lane with enough farm to make a difference?

Agreed, to a certain extent. The thing about counters is that they, well, counter you. If you have no hope of beating them, they know that and take advantage of that by freezing the lane and denying you CS, at which point it's only a matter of time before they can tower dive you. So yeah, you can play passively, but only to a certain extent before you're screwed over.
