I am currently almost level 29, shouldn't be too long until I'm level 30. I've heard lots of tips from my friends on provisionals such as not playing ranked as soon as I reach level 30, not doing duo-queue with someone, and other obvious tips like warding. Lastly, I'd like to ask how you guy's provisionals went when you started ranked.

You should honestly wait. You'd want around 3 full rune pages that fill different needs and roles and 2-3 champions that you can play properly for each role.
Edit: The rune pages are suppose to be tier 3 also, the ones you unlock at level 20. You'll have a really huge disadvantage otherwise.
have 3 champions in every role which you are comfortable with also have at least a standard ap and ad rune page filled out know every position. As for actually doing the games don't stress about them and also don't get discouraged if you end up in bronze you always have ways of climbing up. If you start to go on tilt during your provisionals stop and play some norms until you start to win again. and no matter what anyone else does do not be toxic do not harass them if they make mistakes be nice about it. make sure you have a solid internet connection. and play champs your comfortable with if you have a ton of games on malzahar but you just bought katarina and think shes op play malz.
As the others are saying, wait on it. Celestial hit on the biggest point, make sure you're comfortable in every role as you may not be able to ontrol where you go if you're last pick. As well as allowing you to be the better person and allow someone else on their preferred role if they themselves do not feel comfortable at where they're headed in champ select.
As for practice play DRAFT mode. It's literally the exact same thing as ranked without the LP loss/gain. If you feel you're doig well there, then go do ranked and it won't come as much of a shock. I went into ranked from nothing but bots and blind pick and I had barely made it into silver way back when. Don't make my mistake! :)
