What in the actual fuck is Daniel thinking.
So we just found out about the dft "bugfix" over on the kaynmains reddit.
Let me be the first to say this, way to kill your champions versatility daniel, will it still be possible to play him in a lane? sure.
Will i still play him mid? sure.
But the difference is im one of the highest mastery kayns on the god damn fucking planet, i have mechanics and tricks hidden up my sleeves that i can abuse that the average player picking up kayn for the first time wont, i can eek out a miserable existence for those 11+ minutes till i get my form change in lane without dft.
But you know who this will really affect?
People trying out lane kayn for the first time, see kayns kind of like akali, super weak early game, like suuuuuper weak, but then they get their powerspike, and suddenly holy shit i do damage now, holy shit i just got 2 kills and didnt shit myself doing it.
Akali's powerspike is gunblade and you usually aim to get it around 10 minutes or so, 8-9 minutes if you are on a roll.
kayns powerspike is the form change, it has comparable power to akali's gunblade, the difference being it doesnt cost gold, but it isnt as safe as akali's powerspike, akali can just sit back and farm till she has gunblade.
kayn has to actively trade with his laner putting his already weak early game at jeopardy to be able to attain the form faster.
With dft the fastest time you can achieve the form is about 7 minutes, and that is if you are just going ham turning your laner into a punching bag all lane phase.
remove dft, and the fastest time you can get it is about 10 minutes.
Do you see a problem there, greater risk, same reward, i dont quite think it adds up.
Now put a newer player that doesnt know kayns animation cancels, and shit like that, behind the helm, he isnt hitting that 10 minute mark hes gonna get his form around 15 or so minutes, and god forbid its the wrong form because now its 20 minutes, some games dont even last that long.
But hey what do i know, ive put in more collective hours on the champion across both my accounts than 99% of the playerbase.
