Why votes on a site with a younger audience is a bad idea for riot.

Someone like me who understands the nature of how humans work and how people perceive voting (up voting down voting) doesn't really care about it but what interested me is how cult-like it is. This will get down voted because the cult of silver friends don't like me because i call them out. I find that hilarious but in reality for all the other posts all it does is look bad for riot. You go onto the sight you see the dumbest things up voted and you see random stuff like "which champion should i play i need to get better" gets down voted instantly by the same cult of silver players that feel high and mighty. Its usually the same people trolling and making dumb posts as well. My advice to riot is to make it so there are no votes and your comment stands as what it is a comment. Not where silly kids can bandwagon the same bull crap that they believe which is 9/10 times to be nonsense. Look at the forums right now and go look at the new section and look for the most up voted page, look at the most down voted, then go look at all the 1's. And of course the cult master himself is at the top because he relates to the mass majority of silver players that believe the nonsense. The fact that people don't even read the post or just don't like the person will down vote shows how flawed it is. I could put 2+2=4 and it would get down voted too guess what that says to riot though? Ok guess 2+2 is not 4 lets make it 5 for the players. For instance I only up vote or down vote based off of facts. Player complaining about elo hell or whatever? down voted. Player saying x thing is bad for the game and giving reasons, if i dont agree nothing, if i do agree up vote. Thats how it should work but in a world where you cant keep children out you have to simply take it away from them because it does not work.

Proof (1) Factual arguments (0) Let the down votes with no actual facts or comments by the cult of toxic spammers commence!! also thanks for proving my point within .5 seconds easy to count on ragers.

To state such things without a factual point, to bring up numbers without gathering numbers, and to clearly state ones opinion as factual information. To think you have the ability to break down things without experience or knowledge or even research.

You certainly have an interesting perception of why things get up voted or down voted. Honestly, for someone who claims to understand the nature of how people work, it's surprising you didn't take a more positive tone with your argument and try to convince people the system is flawed, opting instead to come off as high and mighty and get down voted for that (and other reasons).

Your evidence is also extremely lack luster. I mean really, you're using the NEW section as evidence? The section with the fewest amount of votes on any subject?

The rule of thumb is always that there will be 1 or 2 downvotes for no reason before a discussion starts. People with nothing better to do than to down vote it. You have no statistical data on the ranks of those players, as Riot doesn't tell you who voted which way. What matters more is what happens after those initial votes. Does your post have merit to stand on it's own, or does it simply sink into obscurity?

That's not how Riot has outlined it should work. To quote Tamat:

Some vote based on how good they think the content / discussion is, others vote because they agree or disagree. As Pendragon stated, as long as you use your heart, it'll be a positive contribution to the Boards, and subsequently, the community. [...] Another way to judge is as an individual. Did it give you any feels? Are you finding yourself in agreement or strongly disagreeing? Go with your gut! Once you've found something worthy, do us a favor and vote on it, comment on it, or share it with your friends! If it's awful content that doesn't belong on the Boards, then nuke it with a downvote. There are so many ways to contribute to the process.

Put another way, if people want to downvote you because they think you're horribly wrong, they're correct for doing so.

Your argument might hold water if a large number of adults didn't act like idiots or children as well. It's rare that posts that actually contain good content get downvoted to oblivion. It doesn't really matter either way, Riot doesn't listen to the drooling masses often otherwise Riven / Kat / insert champion here would be unplayable.

The point of downvotes is so that people can steer clear of troll threads, or poorly put together threads.

let's see here: positioning of his own superiority based off of...never explained, implicit tier bashing of anyone in disagreement, lack of paragraphs, a longer version of "study it out" shoved into the middle, aggressive tone, a number of replies in minutes. 9/10

I dislike the vote system too, at least in the manifestation it is in now, however you didn't really phrase any sort of convincing argument other than "people spam down vote random things because they are mindless" which is more just an opinion than anything else.

Quick question though (sort of playing a little devil's advocate): If the only people who use the boards are mindless silvers as you put it, then why should you either care about this website in the least or care what gets upvoted or downvoted? And please don't try any silly "I don't care what gets upvoted/downvoted" garbage, because you've already said you care quite a lot simply by the fact that you made this post at all.
