Hi, I would like to know from any of the programmers or even any one of the people at Riot what degree in college would someone go for to become a game programmer?

If you want to become a game developer and you have money, I suggest Full Sail.

I dont really have uh alot of money and I would like to know what degree I would major. Thank you for that college suggestion though.

Ok i am going to get you back to earth and let that astroteemo alone up uin there. Gaming development, computer science ect, is from the hardest things in the world and requires huge amount of serious studies and diplomas. Play your league and get a job that will feed your mouth.

I have already had expreience in programming, I went to a vocational high school and was in programming and web development. It isn't as hard as you're making it seem, I just want to further my skills in it and hopefully get a job in tha field.

Hmm you maybe right. Considering you might not get what imeant. Anyway i comment to you just out of sympathy, that was the motive. If you can mange and make it then go for it sure! Well i cant wish you luck though, cause luck dont have to do with anything like that:S If you try something like that, give it all you got, its a serius job. Cu around. take care.

Computer Science, generally speaking. CE or EE would also work, if you actually took some programming classes.

I hate to be rude. But you really need to figure this out yourself.

And also don't rely on only working for Riot. A Computer Science degree can take 4 years. LoL might not be around that long (although it likely will be).

Don't worry you aren't being rude, I wasn't necessarily planning on working for Riot, I just wanted to know what degree they went for if they did. I have an idea of what degree I'm going for, just wanted an opinion from someone who has had success in this field.

Okay good. A lot of people fresh out of high school put all their eggs in one basket. I did that with my first degree (Marketing) and now I'm in school for my second (Computer Science) since the Marketing thing didn't work out and quite frankly was boring as ****.

Anyways, I'm attending University of Alberta's Computer Science program with a Specialization in Software Practices.

From my conversation with an advisor and a few professors, this was the way to go for programming. However, I'm not specifically going for video game programming.

I hope you get a Red's response to help with your decision. No idea where you'd go in the US
