Why does getting from lvl 1 to lvl 30 take so long?

Because you want people to pay money for XP boosts?

No, because you need the experience of playing. Once you are lvl 30 you should be around 100 normal wins, which I wouldn't recommend having for ranked. I would wait till around 250. By making it long enough to get to lvl 30 (few weeks) it allows you to understand the game. You don't just want 2 day players to instantly join in on ranked and feed all game.

Doesn't take long enough. So many people jump into ranked without a clue, it's obnoxious.

You just stated an opinion and no actual facts to back up your accusation, so I will retort with my own opinion.

It doesn't take too long to level up an account to level 30 in this game. Learning all of the mechanics, items, strategies and teamwork to be viable for ranked play is a long and arduous process for a reason.

There is a reason ranked play is gated behind level 30. It gives the player enough time and games under his belt in order to garner some skill which he can apply to his games. If you leveled up to level 30 too quickly and didn't have enough IP to unlock two basic rune pages and a minimum amount of champions then your worth in ranked would be considerably less than the veterans just based on game starting stats and flexible stratagem available to you.

TL;DR no, it doesn't take too long to level an account, there is reasons for this. Primarily focused on gating young players to give the time to aquire skill, runes and champions to utilize.

Feel free to poke holes in my logic.

Hope this helps you.

It's so new players can gain a reasonable amount of experience while slowly acquiring new champions/runes/masteries/spells before they are ready to be Ranked, rather than have everything thrown at them all at once and be overwhelmed with an extremely steep learning curve.

And xp boosts. But most players aren't experienced enough by level 30 anyway, so Riot would even be justified in taking away the option of boosts and increasing required experience. Level 30 is just too much for smurfs (who cares about them) and MOBA veterans.

Learning curve.

Play vs. bots n level fast...

Edit: Just know it won't teach you how to play PvP. The bots in this game are very cheaty, but predictable. Bot leveling is all about nearly instant queue time, no one caring who you play or the meta, and fast games (aprox 15 min average). Compare two 15 min bot matches with a 98% chance of winning to two 45 min PvP matches with a much lower chance of winning... then look at the experience gained over more than two games and it becomes clear.

12 bot wins will reward about the same experience as 6 pvp wins and 6 losses average... and in a LOT less time. Bots in 3 hours, PvP in 9. There is no question bots are the way to level.

It's also worth noting that you should login every day for your "first of the day". If you don't have much time, queue for beginner bots and win in about 7 min. It's why you see plats and diamonds in beginner bots. Easy win for the IP, but xp too in your case.
