People have been complaining about how League has been going downhill in the last few seasons...

I have been playing League since the beginning of Season 1, and every season there are so many people that say "this is the fall of League" whenever a new champion, idea, or change happens. People complain about how Riven and Vayne are outclassing old champions (which they are), but they are old champions themselves. While it is true that League has fallen victim to mobility creep (Kalista), League is constantly getting better and better imo. Every season, there are states of complete imbalance and states of almost complete balance. Right when cinderhulk got nerfed and before runeglaive, the game was probably as close to balance as could be possible with this many champions and changes. Right now, we are going through a state of almost complete imbalance, because of the Juggernaut reworks, but, yet again, over time, the game will go back to balance after Riot deals with the Juggernauts.

I hate when people say that "season 2 was the best season" or "I wish I could play in season 2 again." Season 1 and 2 both had extreme balance problems, much worse than the balance problems now. Anyone remember release Xin or Le Blanc? Those two still give me nightmares. Anyways, there were so many bugs as well. Poppy could move baron and win the game, anivia could 1v5 penta while in her base (this was in beta tho), you could hold the minion waves with heimer turrets and let loose a gigantic wave of minions that you could push to victory, and so many other bugs. Now, Riot has fixed most of them, except for the occasion knock-up-while-moving bug, where someone gets flown into the air. This has vastly improved the experience of players since that time. People only want to remember the good in season 1 and 2 (don't get me wrong, playing back then was extremely fun), but forget all of the bad. This is just human nature, but just try to remember that every season has had its problems, and every year, League will continue to get better.

but back then riot actually cared about game balance when something was ridiculously broken, they hotfixed it

we've basically been playing two patches without a ban phase because of the clusterfuck that are the recent reworks :S

I think the latest issues people are dealing with the introduction of Sated Devourer and then the Juggernauts. If anything, this season has actually been the smoothest thus far until those two changes took effect. Sure, there were top tier champions that saw balance changes, but that is to be expected. Aside from game times increasing by 5-10 minutes, I've been seeing most everyone content with Season 5 even after the armor rework and before Sated Devourer's recent tweaks....until the Juggernaut patch. I really think Riot should have waited for Pre-Season 6 to unleash the juggernaut reworks because of how much they change the ban field AND because of how much protesting happened on the PBE prior to the release.

Otherwise, no prior Season was the best. Each one had major balance problems, binary itemization, rock-paper-scissors matchups, etc etc etc. Each one has been fun though.

I'm pretty sure at some point every champ has been complained about as much as Vayne and Riven are being complained about right now (with a few exceptions).

It's a cycle.

Forums/Boards complains about x x is nerfed Forums/Boards complains about x being over-nerfed x is is reworked/given small buffs/unchanged Forums/Boards complains about x

This cycle happens to some champions more than others.

Wait, but you mostly mentioned bugs and 2 extreme cases of imbalance that got fixed almost instantly. Doesnt that mean we could go back to season 2 and remove all the bugs and have a fun balanced game? With only 5 bans though, but I will take that anyday, rather than having 1 or 2 as we do now.

I to have been playing since season 1 and trust me there were much much worse stuff ups. In season 2 and 3 there was nothing but overpowered reworks into crushing nerfs. yo-yo balancing all the time.

However, I see why there is the rage at the moment I have quit playing until the next patch.. because I lost 12 (normal) games in a row and it is just not enjoyable. I mean when I had just started the game that didn't bother me much, season 3 I spent a lot of time exploring new roles and that was its own entertainment but at this point it stings really hard to lose this much.

They are taking thier time to look carefully at what is wrong with a champion rather than knee jerk chaning things, it makes things more stable but doesn't make people feel better as quickly.

I am conflicted, this is the first time I have decided to just not play because of a balancing change, but at the same time its just not as bad as it has been in the past. Perhaps this change is just particularly unfun for some reason.

I've been playing since just after beta. Honestly people are always complaining league is ruined except once. During the tank meta a few months ago everything was relatively positive. People were playing the cheese assassins less and everything was more enjoyable. With all the reworks it seems everything has drastically swung the other way. Now you need to permaban them which lets through riven, zed, kalista, yasuo, etc.

As a relatively new player (since last november) I can't speak for past seasons except for the end of season 4, but this is the worst I've seen it. The worst I had experienced before the current balancing catastrophy was like 6-8 months ago when Akali and Katarina were both mandatory permabans, at the moment its about 50 times worse than it was then.
