"Unskilled Player"

I am still not sure why the unskilled player is in the report function. Recently, and this happens very rarely but it happens, I was threatened to be reported as a unskilled player in a normals team builder game. I can somewhat understand keeping this around for ranked games, but even then there seems to be more appropriate ways to report a person than that. I feel like it is now out of place since we have things like team builder where they encourage playing difference champions and different roles, which I highly like that idea! It makes me feel not guilty that after practicing in bots for a game or 2, to actually take a champ into a pvp situation. Because lets be honest bots does not really prepare you for what people do even with the great changes- and we all have to start somewhere. Plus "unskilled player" does not account for that you were having a bad game or you were on tilt. It also does not account for that perhaps you were being harassed that game and were starting to tilt at that point.

Usually the people who threaten or actually do report me as an "unskilled player" will be the people who were the most toxic throughout that match. I almost never talk in chat and don't even look at "all chat" at all (I don't even have it turned on). When I do talk in chat it is usually positive. I meant the obvious answer would be just ignore these people and/or report them for their verbal abuse (which I do). But I just wish this was taken out so that people like that can't even threaten to report you for it. I never get threatened to get reported for anything else and I have never had any warnings against me so... why does this matter? It only matters because it sucks that people use it to harass you even further when the game is already done. Plus I think it just goes against everything that riot has done with this game, and the directions it seems to be going, I think that option is just an old outdated option that no longer fits in the game. Another thing I realized is that when I am threatened with this, or am actually reported for "unskilled," I have a horribly toxic game afterwards. I am usually paired up with people who are trolling or more verbal abusers (even if the abuse isn't towards me). For example, after my game I got paired up in team builder with someone who said they were going to support but ended up doing duo jungle, which no one on our team approved or knew about. Maybe this is just coincidental....

Anyway I would just like to hear anyone else's thoughts on "unskilled player." Do you think it no longer has a place? or do you think it is totally justifiable ( I mean I guess if you really don't want to play with that person again lol, which I have had to play a game with someone I had just reported, unfortunate- so I am not sure reporting really works that way). ?

PS- I think I might have seen a similar discussion before but I felt like it was something to be brought up again, even if it is a rare case.

Reporting someone for "Unskilled Player" is the equivalent of punching a stuffed animal. It's a report that doesn't do anything. Some people think you can get banned for receiving Unskilled Player reports — you can't. Some people think your LP or MMR can be reduced for receiving Unskilled Player reports — they can't. It's a vestigial report from the days when Riot had less faith in their matchmaking system and thought they'd have to do periodic manual adjustments for some players. Now it's just something for ignorant ragers to use.

I'd rather they didn't remove it because the alternative is that those same ragers falsely report you for something else like Assisting Enemy Team.

I presume it's a useful metric when changes are made to the matchmaking algorithm. If unskilled player reports diminish you probably did something right, if they increase you undo what you did.

The existence if the function is there when you see someone who clearly doesnt belong playing with the matchup but they havent done something to specifically troll. Unfortunately, riot doesnt actually care if someone is unskilled. So you could buy a lvl 30 account and go into matches feeding your brains out and riot wouldnt care. But if you asked that guy not to feed, you will get banned, because riot is retarded.

It just adjusts MMR in the sense that you are less likely to run into that person again is all they said it does... so what's the problem with this?

Yes: Riot please remove this option.

This game was about 10 minutes ago.

Really need to ban unskilled players from ranked.

unskilled player reduces your MMR in normals thats about all it ever did and will ever do. it literally does NOTHING unless you get a massive amount of "unskilled" reports to your ranked experience. Riot handles all the "fun" involved with rank... I heard you guys enjoy having a 60% winrate to progress :^) :^) rito gmase
Either way you need alot of reports to do anything like that..so..yeah..
