So I just got out of ranked
Take everything I say with a grain of salt, don't worry I've got plenty of the stuff to spare right about now.
So I'm duoing with one of my friends and I main support, currently on a pretty solid streak bringing me from high bronze to low silver, which basically means I get the border I wanted next season and I would be rather content to stop there, but my friend wanted a dependable duo partner so I kept playing. Only lost like 2 out the last 10 duo matches so I'm being rather optimistic for once. Then the Twitch happened. He wasn't awful to be completely honest, even if his build was a little questionable, the issue was the rage. He was so pissed because I didn't "punish" the enemy lane for every action they did, including walking into a bush, last hitting out of my effective range, and daring to hit our turret ever.
Seriously I finally have a decent ranked experience for consecutive days and this guy flames all match, going so far as to claim I have Downs Syndrome, and that is why I'm so awful at the game in general. As if that wasn't enough our mid laner joined in in bullying me despite the fact that early on the Twitch was 2/5/0 and I was 0/2/2.
Basically what I'm saying is screw this community in general. I know there are plenty of decent people out there, but they sure as hell ain't in low rankings, I hold my own against plat and diamond players and yet every game in ranked feels like I'm walking across a field of broken glass with toothpicks crammed under every finger nail. This community is so violently invested in some stupid number on a game that finding teammates that are completely silent all game is actually a pleasant surprise. Honestly people blame Riot for so much but nobody ever mentions how they've caused their own major community to go borderline septic on a toxicity scale by only caring about ranked and pro gameplay in their advertising. I really don't think it is too much to ask to not get screamed at for every mistake every game because people in the lower 50% of players in ranking think they are flawless and that every single loss is somebody else's fault.
You started the honor initiative and then did nothing with it, those were the best two months of this community I have ever experienced and I've been playing for nearly 3 years. You create game modes that are actually rather fun and then take them away to put the emphasis back on Summoner's Rift and ranked play and it's getting to the point that if I don't have a full 5 man team of my close personal friends I can go weeks without playing with a single decent individual, and I don't mean skill-wise. What happened to the Tribunal? Why isn't your own code of conduct being enforced? And for the love of everything good in this world, why are you just ignoring these issues?
I just really don't understand anymore. I don't understand why I keep playing, or why I even let this garbage bother me anymore. You'd think with this level of rudeness being so common I'd get used to it, but I wanted this game to succeed and make it big. Now that is has? I just want the community of years past to come back, when you could just mess around and nobody expected perfect play if you weren't 3K ELO and sponsored.
I've met some of my best friends playing this game, but it doesn't even feel like League anymore. I'm just so tired of trying to be kind to people that don't even act human, I'd almost rather go chat with a pack of starving wolves.
Tl;Dr I miss how things used to be, back then it was fun and people were actually nice. Now everybody is so defensive about their ranking that it isn't fun.
