Where's the Honor?

I've noticed a drastic decline in the number of people that are honoring each other. When I first join league a few years ago, I received a lot more honor than I do today. I know I am not the best player, and shit sometimes probably the worst player on a team when my focus is dwindling but nevertheless through continuous play it stands to reason that I have gotten better at the game.

So by that school of thought, what's up with honor?

Have we become so jaded that we no longer recognize good behavior but quickly reprimand and report those we dislike? Some say it's just a game, and others are offended by such a discount. Regardless, good play deserves honor does it not?

We have become jaded. We would rather watch the would burn, worship the Void, and play as Teemo every match.

I think the general issue is that while reporting someone has palpable results (them getting chat restricted, suspended, whatever), honoring somebody basically does nothing. Maybe they'll get a purely cosmetic ribbon, but that's about the extent of it.

I tend to honor, but only when someone really stands out in terms of teamwork or friendliness. The thing is, it's so very rare that I end up playing with someone like that that I rarely end up honoring people. The majority of people I play with either don't say much and just take care of their lane, or are complete trolls.

It's also kind of a pain to honor people, it takes clicking a tiny button right next to report and then another button. Per person.

The fact that it didn't have any sort of fallback system for people with a high amount of games already played also kind of killed it. Yeah, we built up the points, but the ratio required for a badge with over 3k games played through the years is nigh-on insurmountable with the amount of people that actually bother to vote.
