Do People Misuse the 'Negative Attitude' Report?
Within the last few weeks, i've started to believe that most league players don't quite understand what they are doing when they're reporting someone for 'Negative Attitude'. In my chats, i talk (overall) slightly less then most other league players, yet i'm still getting reported for 'Negative Attitude' when i say nothing toxic.
For those of you out there who consistently find that you have to abuse the 'Negative Attitude' report, please try to understand that people are rarely ever actually genuine assholes; What i mean by this is -
Example 1: you're in a game, and someone on the opposing team asks "please report __ player for negative attitude" Please try to understand, that listening to what the 'victim' has to say is relatively bullshit. You have no idea what's going on in the enemy's chat, the 'victim' could just disapprove of how low a guy's CS is and still claim to be negative attitude. And even if the guy was being slightly toxic, people are not assholes for no reason, something must have provoked him to say things which must be said. In the end - running to the enemy team for assistance in a domestic argument is like being a 45 year old and running to your mother about being bullied - it's inexcusable, biased, and those who do that without reason don't deserve to be treated as equals to other people. We all play league together, solve the issue domestically.
Example 2: The 'toxic' guy is on your team In this case, you need to reconsider whatever the hell was put in chat during that match before finally deciding on reporting them. When we see someone's typed words, we always have this small voice inside of our heads that we think portrays the other person's. An example of this is when someone is 'Whining' and we think of their 'typed voice' as a crying 8 year old kid. However, you need to get this 1 thought through your head; YOU DON'T KNOW THEM You don't know who they are, what they're like, what they find funny, why they use the vocab they do. Therefor, unless someone EXPLICITLY said something insulting, or has what they typed in chat affect their teamwork for the rest of the game, you cannot report them for this - as what they say goes through their mind differently then yours. Also, if someone EXPLICITLY said something insulting - "your mother should have died in 9/11","GIVE ME YOUR Fing ADRESS SO I CAN STAB YOU",, "you stupid, stupid bronze degenerate motherfer" or anything along those lines - THAT'S VERBAL ABUSE, NOT NEGATIVE ATTITUDE
Example 3: Someone's ping spamming you after you mute them. Personally, i don't know why people do this (besides pinging an enemy) but if this happens - and i see someone on the team saying "I'm gonna report you for negative attitude" i report the 'victim' under "unskilled player" for having an iQ lower then 70. If someone is spamming you, in any unenjoyable way, for an extended amount of time - USE THE 'SPAMMING' report. If you don't know what report to choose, then you don't have the right to report them.
Moving on, this is something that i encounter a lot: You go through a game, you have a troll lee sin support with ghost-clarity who steals your CS and dies 14 times in 20 minutes. Game ends - and he leaves chat room *WAITING UNTIL THE GUY LEFT - Someone (normally the guy most affected by the asshole's trolling) writes something that the troll deserves to see (insult) yet never will because he left the chat room. After all of this, someone in the game said "report __ for negative attitude" -If you're the guy who called for others to report the one who let off steam, you don't deserve to own a computer. It's amazing that your 45 year life in your mother's basement has lead you this far to play league like you have a mental handicap, but you honestly don't deserve anything if you're this stupid. The guy NEVER SAW THE MESSAGE And the Victim - JUST LET OFF SOME STEAM from the troll ruining his game And now you're reporting him? In a way, you're almost as bad as the troll, because then he can be punished for simply being a functioning human.
Lastly: Should you go through all of this, and determine, that "yes, i should have a say in the report record of __ summoner for X - Y - and Z reason" Please try to understand - Does the 'victim' that is being bullied/insulted by the guy you're going to report deserve it? Before you hit that 'send report' button that you're itching to do, think for a moment: "did the guy deserve it" now don't just disregard this question in .5 seconds, think "no" and be done with it, cause then you don't deserve any better. But honestly think, did this guy do anything this game to deliberately hider another's fun/progression simply because of something that was said in chat? If you think the answer is 'no', then go look at a recording of the game and watch the chat. If you think this is a waste of time, then just understand that the guy who was being 'toxic' obviously thinks opposite you - and therefore you cannot judge properly if he is to be reported. If you think yes - because you saw what went on that game, then just let the matter be, and move on with your life.
With Riot Lyte trying to enforce the new rules regarding toxicity in League, people should actually understand what's going on from all points of view instead of simply throwing around reports on a click - as these do start to add up and it's unfair that people are being punished when it was honestly just the reporter's ignorance.
I've left a poll in the area below "Do you think people misuse the 'Negative Attitude' report?" Leave me your thoughts on this subject and your reasons for your choice in the poll down below in the comments section.
