Free Riot Points

So I was just curious if Riot randomly gives out free RP because last night I noticed and I was SO sure this time I got free Riot Points. So I was sitting at 1048 RP in the morning today, then I got back on League later and realized I had 2448. This has happened to me numerous times before(I feel like). In the past I've noticed that I randomly get free RP and I sometimes don't realize it and I can't believe my eyes so I just assume I had that RP already. The only thing this time is, I know for certain I only had 1048 RP because I wanted to buy one of the project skins and didn't have enough. Next thing you know I log on later and boom, I have enough for the legendary Project Yi skin. I'm just curious if people get this too or if it's just me.

If you ever get a gift, you should get a popup notification for it that you have to click on to get out of the way. If a Rioter directly gives you some you won't, but they will most likely tell you about it.

Other than that, it could actually be a combination of a client bug and you not paying attention to your RP totals before/after a purchase. There is a bug that makes it appear that it charged you twice for one purchase; if you didn't look at your RP before a buy and it charged you double, when you log out and back in it will correct itself and it'll appear as if you just gained RP when in reality it never changed.

For example;

You have 3848 RP You purchase X item for 1400 RP Client displays that it charged you twice for 2800 It now incorrectly shows you at 1048 RP You log out and back in Client updates correctly and shows you have 2448 RP
