So you drop 4 ranks if you go 5/5 in placement?

I thought our current ELO had more impact this season. How much more? 1%? I was at 50LP in my division beforehand. If I was at 99 would I drop one rank less? Seems ridiculous that you can go even in placement and then have to play a minimum of 30 games to get back to where you started. Especially with the current predominance of ping issues. What's the point of placement at all if I can drop from S4 to B2 just for being consistent enough to go even? If I'd had just one more game that got trolled (3 of my 10 placement matches had dis-connectors) The would that have sat me in B4? Just trying to provoke some discussion. The current setup for ranked placement basically seems just as horrid and poorly thought out as the last one.
